A walk in the park

Actually it was a bicycle ride and not a walk, but that’s not the point. The point is that Rotterdam has one of the biggest and nicest parks I have ever seen. And it was filled with people strolling, running, biking or just sitting around enjoying the sunny weather and the view of the city. The park, called Kralingse Bos (which translates to The Kralingen Forest), can easily be reached by bike, as most other important places in the city. I think it’s a place worth visiting, so make sure you make some time for it. You can see a lot of interesting stuff… like the world’s most ferocious dog (picture 2), a small encampment with a couple of dozen deer (pic. 3) or even evil geese (pic. 1).

Believe it or not, those geese in the picture, along with some 4 or 5 of their ‘friends’ chased two girls away from their picnic blanket that you can see in the background! It was so funny to see those poor girls eating their sandwiches 5 meters away from the birds, on the road, while the little devils were patrolling around so they couldn’t get to the blanket :->

If the pictures I took didn’t convince you to visit this park, you can find more (and much better) pics ->here<-

What I find amazing about the Kralingse Bos is that there is so much wildlife. I’ve seen a couple of ducks in other parks before, but here there’s one flying, walking or swimming near you every minute, and there are a lot of other kinds of birds around… which are more weird looking. So yes, today’s suggestion is clear : GO IN THE PARK! Shut down your laptops and enjoy some fresh air, cause there’s a lot of that over there.

Also, there are two events I found interesting and I’m really considering going :

  1. JEFF DUNHAM!!! The ventriloquist who plays “Achmed the dead terrorist” and a bunch of other puppets is going to be in Rotterdam on April 6th! Link ->here<- If you haven’t heard of Jeff Dunham or Achmed, check out this video on Youtube
  2. Even if House music is what you might hear most of the time in the Netherlands (correct me if I’ve got the wrong impression), there are some alternatives, like this Jazz session.

And I’ve got a request for those who stumble over this blog : please leave a comment, cause I’d really enjoy some feedback, suggestions or even stories!
