Erasmus University is honoured to host the 11th World congress of Bioethics featuring academic superstars such as primotologist Frans de Waal, Nobel laureate (2002, Physiology) John Sulston and many others. We need look no further than the front pages to see that the topics of this conference are omnipresent. From moral hazards to sustainable businesses, from public health [...]

Discussed our disappointing performance on the new Sustainabul ranking (an initiative of the NGO Rank-a-Brand) today. The transaparency and sustainability performance of all Dutch Universities is not quite up to world class standards, but Erasmus certainly does not stand out in a positive way, whereas there is much more activity going on than first meets [...]

Erasmus University hosts a large VSNU conference today for policy makers, researchers, educators, administrators and other parties interested in increasing study success. The fact that we host it is meaningful: study success is the most prominent differentiator in Erasmus University’s education profile. Rector Maginificus Henk Schmidt addressed the audience this morning, while the Deans and the [...]

With standing ovations for laureate Jean-Claude Trichet we ended a long and memorable day devoted to the crisis in the eurozone. I thought it was remarkable how modest Trichet had remained, despite his many obvious achievements. His views on the way forward, expressed in his lecture, were far-reaching and controversial, and went beyond the call [...]

We expect overwhelming interest in mr Trichet’s Mandeville lecture today. A full house, interesting side meetings, a masterclass and several networking opportunities place Erasmus once again at the centre of an important societal debate. More Europe or less? More eurozone integration into a true Banking Union? Eurobonds a horror or a blessing? A European ministry of Finance? Queen [...]

Today, experts, academics and policy makers are gathering on campus to discuss issues relating to equitable health insurance mechanisms. The session, an initiative of HRH Princess Maxima and organised by a team of ISS and Global Health (ESE, iBMG) takes a full day. Princess Maxima honours the seminar with a keynote and her presence throughout [...]

Kamervragen

4 Jun 2012
