1 Nov 2011Lunchmeeting today with the team that prepares our bid for the 2nd European University Games in 2014. Imagine having 4000 European student sporters coming to Rotterdam in the year of EUR’s centennial celebrations. We have launched a bidbook in September, and I am heading up a delegation to Cordoba later this month, to present our bid. Competition is expected to be stiff, but our commitment to host these games is serious. The City of Rotterdam is partnering with the university in preparing the bid. Rotterdam is proving to be a wonderful partner again, in supporting the initiative both in cash and in kind. When the EUSA delegates visited our facilities a couple of weeks ago, they seemed to be impressed with the city and the possibilities it offers for top sport events. The EUG Executive Committee will determine the winner immediately upon the presentations in Cordoba on 26 November. Fingers crossed.
