26 Apr 2011One thing leads to another. When I first started blogging about diversity and inclusion in 2010, I received a suggestion to consider sexual orientation as well. It was the start of a trajectory that lead to the kick-off, last Thursday, of Erasmus Pride. This initiative unites, supports and informs colleagues and students of the GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender) community of Erasmus University. Several dozens of guests showed interest in the mission of Erasmus Pride: to create visibility, reinforce acceptance and respect within the work/study environment of the university as well as society as a whole. One might wonder what the value is of such networks in a university, the epitome of liberated thought and tolerance? Well, for as long as there are still colleagues apprehensive to ‘come out’ even at Erasmus University, it seems to me that Erasmus Pride will be a welcome addition to our diversity landscape. Here’s to celebrating life!

You are welcome! please keep me posted. In the meantime, a friend drew my attention to the fact that Rotterdam will host “Eurogames 2011″ this year, a large sportsevent for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. Worth checking out?
