‘Twas a fine day indeed, September 6th. If you couldn’t be there, I invite you to check out the images and video coverage elsewhere on this site. Highlights included of course Neelie Kroes’s warm and very personal opening speech, the IT festival preceding the opening, and the overwhelming number of guests. We were solidly booked. Erasmus University generated quite some press coverage (which is always interesting to note given the competition around on a day like this) with the news of upcoming intensified cooperation between EUR and the universities of Delft and Leiden. I was encouraged and somewhat amused by the reactions I received to my opening address. A few academic colleagues actually took the trouble to comment on some of my statements and sent me feedback, data and challenges in the best academic traditions. I thank them for this honour.
