Visions on Peace thesis prize 2016

Thesis-Prize-2016You are cordially invited to attend the annual awarding of the MA Thesis Prize “Visions on Peace” to a student who wrote an excellent thesis on peace and security issues.

The event will take place at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (Haagse Hogeschool), Room 0v.3.3.7, Johanna Westerdijkplein 75, 2521 EN The Hague.

Registration starts at 13:00 and at 17:00 the event will be concluded with drinks. See the attached announcement.

This year 42 students submitted their MA thesis. Three nominees will be invited to give a presentation on their research; the winner receives a prize of € 1,500.

Also the winner of the “HBO (University of Applied Sciences) Peace in Practice Research Award” will be awarded.

The ceremonies will be preceded by a keynote speech by Hugh Pope, Director of Communications & Outreach at International Crisis Group. He will deliver a speech on “Turkey and a Region in Crisis – How diplomacy can be made to work better”.

The prize is initiated by the Dutch Foundation for Peace Studies (Stichting VredesWetenschappen) and has been made available by the ASN Foundation.

As of 2012 UPEACE The Hague will co-organize the prize award. UPEACE The Hague believes that Education and Peace are mutually reinforcing and therefore wants to stimulate students to perform research in the field of peace and security.
