SERI’s first newsletter of 2013 highlights some of our recent research, advocacy and litigation, including:

  • a controversial new research report which looks at housing waiting lists, demand databases and allocation in South Africa.
  • new working paper on community-based paralegals in South Africa.
  • popular education and training workshops, media advocacy and civil society coordination.
  • a number of important cases, including: several inner city eviction cases which deal with the conditions in temporary alternative accommodation provided by the City of Johannesburg to evictees; the isiQalo land settlement case in Cape Town; and the Gauteng Rental Housing Tribunal in an important electricity-related case.
