Ghadija Vallie masterclasses

largeOn 19 September 2011, we were very happy to welcome South African human rights activist and social justice campaigner Ms. Ghadija Vallie to the ISS.

Ms. Vallie gave two masterclasses on “Using Knowledge for Human Rights and Social Justice” and “Gaining Knowledge for Human Rights and Social Justice” for HDS students in the graduating classes of 2011 and 2012.

In November 2009, Ms. Vallie co-organised the conference Mobilizing social justice – Unlocking the potential for structural change. See the conference information pack. The results of this conference led directly to a book published by Pretoria University Law Press entitled Mobilising Social Justice in South Africa: Perspectives from researchers and practitioners, the full contents of which can be downloaded for free.

In June 2011 Ms. Vallie published an article with Bangani Ngeleza on some of her work and life experiences for DevISSues magazine, which can be downloaded here. She was also interview
