Statement of the Prosecutor on the Agreement on the Creation of a Special Jurisdiction for Peace in Colombia

ICC’s press releases. Date of publication September 24, 2015

ICCOur hope is that the agreement reached by the parties on the creation of a Special Jurisdiction for Peace in Colombia does just that. I note with optimism that the agreement excludes the granting of any amnesty for war crimes and crimes against humanity and is designed, amongst others, to end impunity for the most serious crimes.

The Office will carefully review and analyze the agreed provisions in detail as part of its on-going preliminary examination of the situation in Colombia.

To this end, my Office will be engaging in extensive consultations with the Government of Colombia and other stakeholders, including victims and relevant civil society organizations.

‘While people thought, “who has a care in the world for a social cause on the internet?”several organizations proved this wrong by running the most successful campaigns. It is true that for something to go viral, creativity, intellect, and little bit of luck is vital. However, sometimes the exploded content is merely a great idea gone popular. This is definitely something non profits and other organizations seeking social change can do while crafting their content for online users.’

Pursuing social change from the civil society through the social media implies more than attractive but ephemeral content. Fortunately, some organizations have obtained outstanding results, and they are available for you to learn following the link .
